Registration, Fees, Deadlines, Refunds and Drop Fees

Registration Closed on March 16th.

However, Late Registration Is Possible.

If Interested In Late Registration, Please Read the Steps

Below and Then Send Us An Email Asking About How To

Register Late: [email protected].

1) Register With Stoa.

Here are the steps for registering for our tournament early.

First, students must be Stoa members in order to participate in this tournament. For Stoa membership, click here: Stoa Membership 2023-2024.

2) Register As A Parent Judge.

Second, a parent for each family needs to register to judge three rounds. At least one parent from each family must attend the tournament and judge every other round (i.e. three rounds). On the day of the tournament, parents much accompany their students and check-in with them.

3) Student Registration

Student Registration opens on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. and closes on March 16, 2024 at 8:00 p.m.

4) Registering for team policy debate

When registering for a team event such as team policy debate remember that when you input the name of your partner, it must exactly match the name that your partner actually used when signing up for the tournament. Likewise, when your partner enters your name in his or her registration as a partner, your partner must use exactly the same name you entered for your registration.

So, for example, if your partner is John Smith and you listed your partner in your registration as John A. Smith or John A Smith or Johnn Smith or John Smithh, the computer will not recognize your partner. The name for your partner must exactly match the name that your partner used to register for the tournament.

Likewise, your partner must also input your name correctly. If your name is Fred Jones but your partner listed your name in his registration as Frederick Jones or Fred A. Jones or Freddy Jones or Fredd Joness, the computer will not recognize you. And, of course, if either one of you misspell your own name or your partner’s name, Flowpad will not match you up.

Also, think about nicknames. If your name is Abigail but your partner entered your name as Abi or Abbie, the computer will not match you up. Likewise, if you list your own name as the name of your partner (yes, this does actually happen at times), Flowpad will not find your partner.

Sorry, FlowPad is just a computer and it only recognizes exact matches.

Each year, Flowpad generates between fifty to one hundred error messages based on input problems arising from registering partners for teams. So please work with your partner to insure both of you properly designate each other as partners. We want you to compete together!

5) Mixed Team Policy Teams.

Are you registering for TP and your partner is from a different club? If so, please review our posted Tab Procedures which explains whether your club name or the club name of your partner will be used.

6) Read all the information below including the discussion regarding refunds and drop fees.

Stoa Registration information should be completed and payment received to reserve a place at this tournament. Please be sure your student can attend the entire tournament for all events selected before registering. Partial participation is not possible.

Entry Procedure

Please click on the "Student Registration" tab above and complete all necessary steps. To add students to a family registration, just click “add student”. If more than one family registers on the same computer, make sure the previous family has logged off.

Each family needs its own registration. Please only sign up your own sons and daughters on your registration.

You may pay automatically at the end of the registration process by selecting the "Pay" button and following the prompts.

Entry Deadline: Please register no later than March 16th at 8:00 p.m. PST. After you complete your registration, you will be able to print a confirmation page from the registration site.

Team policy debaters should check with their partners to ensure that they are also registered. A team is not registered until both partners are registered. One registered student does not hold a space for the team. Each student on a TP team must be fully registered and payment must be completed by the close of registration on March 16th at 8:00 p.m. Otherwise, you will be removed from that event, and we will contact the next team on the wait list. So call your partner now!

Also, when you call that partner, please check with your partner for the correct name that your partner has used when registering and use that same exact name in the partner box. Send an email to our registration team ([email protected]) if there are any corrections or questions.

Tournament Fees

Lincoln Douglas Debate: $45 per person
Team Policy Debate: $45 per person

Deadlines

1. Registration closes on March 16, 2024 at 8:00 p.m. and payment in full is due by that date.
2. No refunds are available after March 16, 2024 at 8:00 p.m.

For all general registration questions please contact our tournament registration team at [email protected].

Refunds

If you decide to drop an event prior to 8:00 p.m. on March 16th, we can offer you a refund but you need to request the refund. Refunds do not occur automatically. Email the registrar at [email protected] no later than March 16th at 8:00 p.m. to drop events.

After March 16th, we will have made plans based on the numbers we have registered and, as a result, there can be no refunds in the event of a cancellation. The tournament needs to make important budgeting decisions (renting rooms, buying trophies, the number of doughnuts for tab, etc.) based on the number of people who have registered and paid. For this reason, refunds are unavailable after registration closes on March 16th at 8:00 p.m.

Drop Fees

There are no drop fees for this tournament. Drop fees only apply when students are competing in more than one event.
